I spent hours just staring at this page as a kid. I even carefully pulled it from the rule book and kept it in my school notebook. When I was bored in class (all too often), I would draw the players on blank pieces of loose leaf paper.
Is it me or does this pix have Big Men and hog-leg figures intermixed……….check out the Lions and the Cowboys……Lions look like Big Men and the C-boys have a Big sprinter and a hogleg blocker………….also, did anybody ever see the Redskins yellow helmet with a “R” actually painted on them?…….mine just had a burgandy dot.
Earl and Roddy……….this photo brings up a question of an old mystery …in your research, did you guys find any evidence that Tudor produced the “Black” helmet Saints ?
Tony, without a doubt there are a mix of players in the 1970 NFL team photo. Some were likely leftover from the previous year’s team photo shoot, while other teams (AFC in white) need to be added for 1970. As for the Skins helmet, we’ve only seen it with a red dot. And yes, black helmet Saints DO exist. The are even Sears’ No. 613 games with a black Saints helmet on the side.
